Re: Questions about the 2012 Phoenix Awards

Man, it's gonna be a tough competition between these nominees, and this is just so far.

Jason, how long will nominations be open for, and how will the judging be done?

Nominations will remain open until the end of January, I think, or at least the next 2 weeks.

Ahem. Oh yeah.

My other question stands (how will judging be done).

Re: Questions about the 2012 Phoenix Awards

I'm not sure. Last year we did it via a committee but the communication took a LONG time. I've considered removing myself from the running and simply doing a one man show, but I'm concerned about bias (I can't pretend to be totally impartial).

Maybe we should have the membership decide in a vote? I'm open to suggestions here.

Also, I need to review what we had previously decided on "Newcomer of the Year" awards, as now that we HAVE newcomers it may be a more appropriate award to give out. Any other suggestions for awards this year?

Re: Questions about the 2012 Phoenix Awards

Jason, that'd be a great category. I'd certainly nominate Irykyl to it, and I can think of several potential contenders as well. Osprey, wanderer, Pukka, I know Mischa mentioned Wandrew, etc. Mike Miller presumably qualifies?

Re: Questions about the 2012 Phoenix Awards

Yes, Mike would qualify since he came back. Although he's over a year now, but I'd say wave that since he would have been the ONLY qualifier last year if we had this award, IIRC. I think the fairest way to do it is for anyone who joined in 2012 (or before, but no one that's been here over 2 years - so from Aug 2011 and onwards as well).

So let's say officially that category is open. I'll update the nominations thread, go ahead and start throwing out nominations for it!

All I will say is I may or may not have washed a Hyroxycut down with a Monster approximately 30 minutes prior to making my previous post.

Yes, the committee has begun deliberations. Look for results "real soon now". big_smile

Re: Questions about the 2012 Phoenix Awards

When the committee returns to normalcy? It will definitely be done prior to next year's awards. smile

Re: Questions about the 2012 Phoenix Awards

All kidding aside, the committee I've put together is volunteer, and I am absolutely grateful for their extra time. So when real life steps in, I don't complain. It is what it is. I personally apologize for the delays, when I chose the committee it was of very active members and I was hoping to turn it all around within a month. That obviously didn't happen.

Re: Questions about the 2012 Phoenix Awards

FYI the committee is deliberating at the moment, hopefully we'll have consensus soon - the problem with having so many good people on this site is that it makes it VERY hard to single out any one person/sim for each award. A good thing for Phoenix, not so good for the awards committee. smile
