Re: [Phoenix 2.0] Where are we?

I missed letting folks know when we were using Cloudfront, but we were... and after a few issues with sessions recently, we're not any more. We'll get it back in when the new system goes live. Talking of which, quick update on my lunch break.

We now have a full data model in place - that's a techy way of saying the super exciting bit of "all the framework needed to hold data is ready". Once testing of that's complete (there'll be a lot of testing, because this is probably the most critical layer), I'll need to rewrite some of the data controller (the bit that processes data and provides it to the front end view) then work on creating the front end that will let people access and use it. The data controller changes are needed because I managed to set things up to allow a feature I'm pretty pleased with: shared characters.

I'll post about them in a bit more detail once I've had time to do testing (probably after Christmas/New Year as I've family visiting for the duration), but for anyone who's used Google Docs it's similar to how access works there - one owner, then others can have edit rights or just view rights. In the case of characters, there's one owner, others can be granted edit rights (to update bio, picture, etc) or just usage rights (to post as the character). GMs will also be able to post on a sim as any character rostered too, in case someone's away and their character is needed.

Re: [Phoenix 2.0] Where are we?

Greetings from across the Pond, noble Scot far flung in the Commonwealth.

I wonder if this thread ought to be stickied and if another update is possible? Perhaps even a schedule for updates, maybe every six months?

Re: [Phoenix 2.0] Where are we?

Stickying is an excellent idea - done! Six monthly updates do seem like a good idea, which means we're about due one. The past few months worth of Phoenix dev time have been principally redirected to the AJJE migration so we can get it up and running, so little news on the Phoenix 2.0 front. The data model has been implemented though, and went through a few changes in the process (plans - they never survive first contact), but once the PARS wing opens I'll have time to get back to it and see if fresh eyes spot any improvements to make to that foundational piece before things are built atop it.

Re: [Phoenix 2.0] Where are we?

How long is it likely to be before the PARS wing opens?

Edit: Never mind, seen in another thread. Should have looked earlier, sorry.
