Re: Transport Ship Xiurong

Jim gingerly brought his ship into the fuel bay to receive the 100 ton fuel pod.  He'd left his own standard work shop pod back at docking berth 6, so the cargo area was clear and ready.  He slid the Wren slowly forward, watching the ground guide for manual telemetry, and soon they had a successful mating.  To maximize the time spent and make things easier, he also topped off the Xiurong while she was here.

The engineer walked down through his little control area to the access hatch and opened it to welcome the two fuel workers.  "Afternoon fellers", he said jovially as he stepped onto the docking floor.  "Y'all got heavy duty vacc suits fer this mission?  That derelict is puttin' out some serious rads, so ye gotta be safe when gettin' near her."

Re: Transport Ship Xiurong

The workers approached Jim as he opened the hatch, carrying large duffle bags. "'afternoon sir. Yessir we heard this was gonna be a mite bit dicey. Got our suits right here. I'm Douglas, he's Bobby." The men looked over the small Wren class freighter. "Wooeey, this is one small bird sitting on a big egg. Should be interesting sir."

Jim shook hands with both men, then said, "All righty then boys, set yer suits inside th' airlock an' let's git th' fuel pod bolted down, then we kin top off th' tank so we're ready t' git gone."  The engineer assisted the two fueling techs as they fitted the tie downs to adapt to the fuel pod, then they topped off both the Wren and her mew fuel pod.  "Let's git all th' fuelin' gear set t' go while we're here at th' station.  Won't be a'goin' into atmo, so nothin' need's be be tucked away.  Set 'er up like ye want it, so she's ready t' refuel them tugs, an' we'll git gone."

Re: Transport Ship Xiurong

"Yes sir, we will get right on it." Doug replied

The boys did seem to know their stuff, quickly going about securing the pod, arranging hoses and checking the seals and valves on the pumps. It didn't take long to get their rig prepped and ready to head out.

"She may not look like much, but this pod will keep the tugs running." Robert added in after securing the last hose. "Ready to go when you are sir."

Jim smiled at his helpers and said, "Well, all rightee then.  Let's vamoose."  He opened the airlock hatch again for his helpers, and after they entered, Jim closed and secured the hatch.  As the two helpers entered the tiny cabin, Jim cranked up the engines and called for clearance.

="Fuel Transport Xiurong is away, Control.  Confirm vector 455.34 t' target.  Have a great day, y'all."=  The little Wren turned away from the Skyplex and headed out into the Black, on course to intercept the incoming Apollo.

He looked over at the two fueling techs and asked, "Y'all ever seen one o' them Arks?"

Jim smiled as he sat at the controls, then answered, "Fellers, ye both 're gonna git th' chance t' see an Ark up close an' personal like. Specially up agin a ship as small as this'un, it's an experience fer yer lifetimes."  He opened up the throttle and let the Wren exercise her legs as she streaked towards the oncoming Ark... and the thirsty tugs that were desperately trying to alter her course.

Scarlett's voice came over the cortex. =Service fleet, we are switching to line of sight  laser links. It's time to move in on this big  cloud of radiation and see if we can bag us a prize for the ages. Remember we are going to be losing sensors shortly, so keep your eyes sharp. Slow this thing down  and let's hope we can park it before it fries the whole station. We are keeping come open, so be vocal out there. Good luck everyone. Let's do this thing!"

The Wren's sensors were starting to develop static glitches as the fleet closed in on the distant ark.
