As everyone began to drift into the galley for something to drink and eat, Louis had set out plates and silverware, made both coffee and tea plus if the captain deemed it, he could break out some beer too. Less variety though for what was being served as the meal. It was protein meatloaf with some onion and finely diced vegetables mixed in for more flavor plus of course he always flavored a rather plain dish like this with a delicately balanced spice mix. It was not hotly spiced though, those who preferred that could reach for the bottle of hot pepper sauce on the table.

The meatloaf had some solidity to it, but not dry and overdone. Carefully he cut it into slices, piling them onto a big serving plate so they could help themselves. Of course there was a salt and pepper combination too should anyone wish to sprinkle either or both on to their helping. In truth it was nothing fancy but it was decent ship fare which smelled good and had a satisfying flavor....well for all but the fussy eaters. Can't please everybody.

"Help yourselves, people. I made plenty so don't be shy about having a second slice too," Louis greeted his 'customers' with a genuine smile.

Carson herd the cooks call and dinner did smell good, even though it was protein in the disguise of meat loaf , From what he could tell the cook had done an impressive job
Carson picks a slice and lays it on a plate he had picked up  , then a side and his green tea  which he took to his chair
He bites in and it was delicious for being protein based, Yes they had a good cook , he gives the cook a thumbs up and smiles

Gunther looked over at Louis and held his hand up in a stop signal, then said, "Mr. Flandry, we don't have room for all of us to eat down here on B Deck, so please use the dumb waiter to send all the food and beverages up to the A Deck Common Room serving line and prepare it for us.  Then we can all sit down together and enjoy the meal where there's room for us."  He smiled at Louis and waited for a reply.

As the second survivor walked into the Common Room and came to stand before him, Gunther scanned him briefly as he entered and then simply watched the man's eyes as he did walked up to him.  Showing neither bravado or bluster, Gunther simply replied in his even baritone voice, "Yes sir, I am in command here."

He glanced at Delilah and Svara for a split second, then extended his hand for a firm handshake.  "My name is Gunther Lindemann, and you are?"  With the comment about the actions of his crew, the Captain smiled a knowing smile and replied, "Well sir, they're just a little cautious and determined to identify who they're dealing with before rolling out the red carpet to newcomers.  Given the situation, I'd say that caution was justified, don't you?"

Robert took the man's hand and gave it a strong shake before responding. "Robert Vega, former ships engineer" he said as he gestured to his grease stained mechanics coveralls. He was considering saying something else when he smelled the food. Protein loaf, same thing he'd eaten for years as a ward of the state and in the military

"Caution is justified or whatever but... Ah, no point bringing it up now"

"Good", said the Captain as he released Robert's firm handshake.  He turned to Svara and said, "Ms. Mathis, if you would take our guests up to the A Deck Common Room for chow, I'd appreciate it.  We can all get to know each other better there while enjoying Mr. Flandry's delicious dinner."  Gunther looked back at Laura and said, "You wishes to speak with me, Mrs. Stanier?  Let's go forward to the Bridge."  He motioned for Laura to precede him forward.

"Yes, sir," Svara responded to Gunther's request and then looked to the two survivors. "This way." She took them through the ship up to the A Deck Common Room, as requested, making a point to lead them as guests, rather than follow them as she had when they were suspects.

"Captain", she asked, "Request permission to bring meatloaf into the bridge. Talking to these people has made me hungry".

She moved to collect some cutlery and a plate for herself.

"Hold off for a moment, Mrs. Stanier", Gunther said quickly as the 2nd Officer began to collect her eating utensils, "and let's wait until Mr. Flanery brings all the food and utensils up to the A Deck Common Room.  No sense trying to juggle all that up the ladder with you.  We'll all eat together upstairs."

"So. Mr Flandry, ya need a pair of big strong arms to take those plates and utensils off to the Common room?

Gunther watched the crew and guests head up to A Deck, and he keyed his comm unit to call his pilot back to duty.  Eponine had been off and with her daughter since leaving the Mayfair, so she should be ready for a shift at the helm.

="Ms. Carnahan, this is the Captain.  I need you to report to the Bridge and assume Bridge Watch. Over."=

The Captain waited for the pilot's response.

Re: B Deck - Common Room and Galley

The Captain wanted him to move the food now that he had just set everything out to start eating. Great, wonderful....

"Yessir, will do," it wasn't like you could say 'no' to the boss, Louis nodded compliance and began the work to transfer meal and materials to the dumb waiter.

Deliah spoke up.

"It's not meatloaf, there's no meat in it" Delilah said to Laura as she made her way over to Louis and made a show of leaning on the door frame and smiling.

"Technically, since all meat is protein and this has protein in it....well, you know," Louis pointed out with a smile while transferring plates and silverware.

"So. Mr Flandry, ya need a pair of big strong arms to take those plates and utensils off to the Common room?

Was that a shot at his less than impressive build? Louis shook his head, "No thank you, I believe my arms are up for the job." He would have flexed a bicep but that would hardly be a convincing argument.

Re: B Deck - Common Room and Galley

"Thank you, Mr Flanery", the Captain said to Louis with a slight smile.  "For future reference, all crew meals will be served in the A Deck Common Room, using the serving facilities of that area.  This is the only area large enough aboard to seat the entire crew for meals and meetings.  Looking forward to trying your chow."

He paused to ensure that his statement was understood, then added, "The B Deck Common Room will be used for smaller meetings and for feeding the Bridge crew."  He thought for a moment and said, "You can keep a fresh pot of coffee and hot water for tea here at all times, so that we can help ourselves as needed."  He finished with, a simple, "Carry on."

Laura looked at it, then at Louis. She moved over to him and gave him a glare.

"Louis, Louis", she said quietly but firmly, "If it is not meatloaf, then don't call it meatloaf. That is a violation of the Properly Describing Food Act of 2498 and is punishable by my not replacing your light bulbs when they blow".

Then she smiled and gave him a wink. She turned towards the Captain.

"Do you wish to have that meeting now or after we have eaten, sir?" she asked.

Re: B Deck - Common Room and Galley

Gunther smiled inside when Laura teased Louis about his meatloaf, then put on his serious side whenh the engineer addressed him.  "Let's do it now, and give the crew a chance to eat together and get to know each other better.  Then we can gauge more about these two guests we've picked up."  He motioned for Laura to go forward to the Bridge hatch, saying, "There's no one on the Bridge at the moment, so we don't need to worry about getting permission to enter."

Re: B Deck - Common Room and Galley

The captain spoke in a very calm but authorative tone of voice to him, giving him quite specific directions as to how meals would be served in the future.

"Yes sir, of course," Louis nodded.

"Fresh coffee, tea, and hot water, got it," he also nodded compliance to that too.

"Louis, Louis", Laura now addressed him, "If it is not meatloaf, then don't call it meatloaf. That is a violation of the Properly Describing Food Act of 2498 and is punishable by my not replacing your light bulbs when they blow".

Louis didn't know what to make of her and her remark. Most likely joking...right? He smiled at the woman.

"Never heard of it. Lots of food name are not necessarily accurate you realize? For example, there is not lobster in lobster sauce. Or.....chick peas.....those peas are not made from chicks," he pointed out with a shrug.

"Oh and if I'm anything, I'm certainly tall enough. I can change my own lightbulbs," he added.
