Re: Sim Opening and Closing

I'd just be very careful how you word that, though, Osprey. You don't want to come across as limiting creativity (or active participation). However, I think setting limits for what YOU can respond to is very appropriate. Something like:

"I don't mind if you continue to post amongst yourselves, as long as you are not furthering the plot without my input. Be aware, however, that GM interaction will be limited to X posts a week/day, so anything you post that may require my response will not move forward until I have the availability to post again."

Or something equally efficient but less wordy. smile

That doesn't limit people from continuing conversations their characters may be having or whatever, but sets the expectation for how active you can be to respond to player needs.

I like something like that. As an OOC post, it's fine as written - as a house rule, perhaps "The GM will post approximately x times per y - posts requiring GM response should not be expected more frequently" or similar? There's already the sliding scale for "what you can resolve on your own" (chatter between PCs -> minor things -> major things) in the template, iirc.

Re: Sim Opening and Closing

Considering how far we've taken this, I think it may be getting rather frivolous to continue discussing how this could work when we're not discussing making this actual site-wide policy - it's pure abstraction, really. It's up to individual SL's what they want to do, regardless of the outcome of this conversation, and then it would be appropriate for the players, GM, and SL to discuss the merits and flaws of what that SL actually wants to do with their sim when such a rule rolls out.

I like that we do have certain feelings about this but I really don't see any merit to keeping the ball rolling on this one.  hmm

Agreed. Let's just leave that to the discretion of a Sim Leader.

Re: Sim Opening and Closing

I suppose, but if it gives people some ideas about things they may want to implement in their own sims, I don't see how the discussion is hurting anything.

Re: Sim Opening and Closing

Perhaps we could make a thread of common house rules? It would grow organically, but if there's something that a number of SLs use, or something that perhaps only a few use but it was hard to find succinct yet clear wording for, we can have a place so other SLs wanting a rule of that ilk can, if they wish, simply copy-paste the existing text - saves the work of reinventing the wheel, and helps consistency. Of course, they can completely ignore that thread, and that's fine, but it'd be a resource available to them.

Re: Sim Opening and Closing

After having been archived recently due to RL issues of its players, the TLJ sim has now been reopened since its players are active on the forums again.

However, the TLJ sim could still use additional players. If you are interested, just send me an email or a PM.
