Re: General Discussion Thread for Elections and Voting

I updated the site's announcement. Maybe also a good time to update "From the Office of the GC" thread to make it land on the front page of the wiki. And of course I'd be shocked if Silent doesn't blog and/or tweet it... smile

Where's the vote at? Checked all the voting threads and no thread.

Re: General Discussion Thread for Elections and Voting

It doesn't appear on-site, it goes straight to your e-mail inbox if you have posted within the last 2 weeks. If you didn't get an e-mail, send me your e-mail address and I'll be sure you're added to the mailing list.

I'll ad something in the next couple of days.

Re: General Discussion Thread for Elections and Voting

Robert, remind me how the "if you've posted within the last two weeks" mailing list is compiled? If Osprey didn't get an email, there's something up with the system.

Re: General Discussion Thread for Elections and Voting

That would be on Euan's end of things. I just access the file, Euan's got the code that's doing all the work.

Osprey, I have confirmation on my end that an e-mail was indeed sent to you. Maybe check your spambox if it didn't land in your inbox?

Checked. Nothing.

Re: General Discussion Thread for Elections and Voting

Can we check what email address you have confirmation it went to, Robert? [redacted] presumably? And if that's the account Osprey's checking, clearly the confirmation is wrong and we need to fix it.

I suggest it's also worth sending an email to other new players, eg Leif and Irykyl to see if they received an invitation to the balot.

Yes that's the one. Osprey, you have another e-mail perhaps that I could try instead? It has most definitely been sent to the site's best capabilities. Or perhaps can you confirm that that is the correct spelling?

As a fair reminder, the reason we use e-mail invites is because of security problems we had in the past and could have had. Also to switch methodologies mid-vote might have unpredictable outcomes (i.e. it might wipe the current voting round and we'd have to start over).

However all is not lost. Osprey, if you have another e-mail we can try that one. Or worst case scenario, I can just e-mail you the ballot and you can e-mail me back what way you're voting and then I'll just manually include it in the vote.

Good call, will do.

Can I advise people not to post personal email addresses in a publicly visible forum for reasons of privacy.

Re: General Discussion Thread for Elections and Voting

Yes, thanks Silent and apologies, Osprey. I have e-mailed you personally regarding this, please let me know if you received my e-mail.

Re: General Discussion Thread for Elections and Voting

There is some thing incredibly odd going on with my e-mail, as I have gotten none of the correspondence what-so-ever. That, and I do not have any other e-mail that can be used since the e-mail I use for this forum is the only one.

Sorry, I thought if it displays here it's publically visible anyway? But I've just discovered is that it only shows there when I'm logged in.

This may sound silly, but perhaps you could double-check the spelling of your e-mail address that you've posted here in case there was a typo? That would certainly put a damper on e-mail communication and it seems a rather easy mistake to make.

It is correct. Already troubleshot that out.

Okay, I've sent you a message in your Phoenix inbox (upper right corner) since we can be fairly certain you'll receive messages there.  smile

Best not to spread it about any more than we have to.

Fair enough, chief. Sorry again, and sorry to Osprey. I'll be more circumspect in future.

As per off-site communication, it appears Osprey's issue was a glitch that has worked itself out.

Re: General Discussion Thread for Elections and Voting

These are good threads, Robert.

I had been thinking that votes to create a category for a single sim, as per Admin Policy 13: Sim Index Categories, would be added as amendments to Admin Policy 13. So it would read something like this:

Admin Policy 13: Sim Index Categories (December 2012)
That 'Category' Roleplay Areas (Firefly, Stargate, etc.) be provided for any genre in which we run more than one sim. Genres in which we only run one sim will appear in an appropriate 'Other' category Roleplay Area (i.e. 'Other Sci-Fi').

Exceptions to this rule can be made on a case by case basis if a member proposes a motion (to allow an exception for a particular sim to have its own area) which is then voted on and passes.

Amendment 1 (April 2013)
That the War Sims category remain a stand alone category, even if only one sim and the OOC forum remain open there.

Amendment 2 (September 2013)
That a Star Trek category be provided for our new Star Trek sim USS Phoenix and that the old Star Trek OOC forum threads be moved to a new Star Trek OOC forum in this category.

---

Just for example.
