Re: GC/TC Elections 2013

Done, slipped my mind... But you can vote from an IPhone.... :-)

Re: GC/TC Elections 2013

Check your spambox spsblue, if you received your invite e-mail then you should have received a receipt e-mail too (and the receipt e-mails are entirely out of my hands so if you lost yours I actually can't do anything  sad  )

I did, I think I deleted it by mistake. And no, it isn't in Trash either.

Re: GC/TC Elections 2013

I know I didn't get a receipt for mine hmm But I'm also pretty sure I wasn't number 6.

Re: GC/TC Elections 2013

I also didn't get a receipt and I am pretty sure it wasn't in my spam box, because I always check the messages in that box before I delete them. I cannot remember what number I had.

Re: GC/TC Elections 2013

Oh I now know what it is. I send my receipt number to myself so that way I don't lose it.

Well crud...and there's no way I can tell it to send receipt numbers to everyone.  sad

If you happen to remember your receipt number being #15 I need to speak to you as well, please e-mail me.

Re: GC/TC Elections 2013

So we've had a couple hiccups with people deleting candidates from their TC ballots but actually nothing earthshatteringly damaging. I had already resolved the issue with receipt #6 before I asked on here that the person contact me (silly me).

Receipt #15 is still an issue but fortunately I don't think a re-vote will be needed if the person doesn't come forward (i.e. if the person doesn't remember their receipt number or doesn't see the request for them to contact me before the end of the elections).

Re: GC/TC Elections 2013

What I'm curious about is whether we'll have the aforediscussed situation of "they won both GC and TC! But they can't be both!".

....that raises another issue with it to mind. It essentially gives that one person sole arbitration on who becomes one of those positions.

That's a very good point!

Re: GC/TC Elections 2013

That would be interesting but with our current legislature we don't have anything saying someone can't be both.

I did suggest that for new legislation we not only prevent someone from having more than one coordinator position but also bar them from running for more than one position.

Just throwing it out there: we could also split up the GC and TC elections to separate them out which will allow someone to run for multiple coordinator positions but only if they didn't already get one of them. I'm not particularly of the mind that we should do this, just figure maybe it's worth mentioning that this is also an option.

Re: GC/TC Elections 2013

I agree that running for GC should bar a person from running for TC and vice versa. Nothing personal of course, but holding both offices would take a tremendous amount of time and I'm not sure any person would be able to spend that much time on this and it also appears to give people just a little more power than I'm comfortable with.

I can see the advantage of splitting both elections. On the other hand, having them simultaniously assures that GC and TC are 'stuck with each other' during their entire office, meaning that they won't have to get used to working with a new person halfway through their office.

I would also like to address the issue of the possibility to decline your office after you have won the elections. Although there can always be circumstances which suddenly make it impossible to accept, I am not a fan of this possibility. It allows the person to, for example, decline the office of GC after finding out who the TC is because the two don't get along. This in turn would be an argument in favor of Robert's suggestion to spilt up the GC and TC elections.

Re: GC/TC Elections 2013

Ah, I remember the discussion on "can run for both", but had thought we'd gone "well, they can't be both". Mea culpa. Then when we get round to writing possible legislation for it, I'll be arguing/writing something to make absolutely clear that the only time there can be two Coordinator hats on the same person is when we have situations an EVC as acting GC (since we have in the regs that the EVC can appoint themselves acting GC if we find ourselves with no candidates after an election cycle begins - essentially, unless something explicitly says so in the rules, a person may only hold one Coordinator position. And I'd be tempted to extend that to their deputies).

Re: GC/TC Elections 2013

Voting closes at midnight EST tonight, I believe?

Re: GC/TC Elections 2013

It was supposed to be tonight at midnight EST but because of an issue with automated invites, opening got delayed 9 hours so it will close 9 hours later as well to allow the full 2 weeks, or 9am EST on the 24th of July.

I've sent out reminder notices yesterday and another one just now to try to get more people to vote.

And if you haven't voted, WE DO NEED YOUR VOTES!!!  smile

OK. Can you email the candidates with the results before you publish them please? I won't be able to get on the site until 5pm, but I can check my emails.

Before as in send then post, or before as in send and then wait for communication from the candidates before posting?

Re: GC/TC Elections 2013

I could see an argument for wait to post, in case a winner wishes to decline.

Re: GC/TC Elections 2013

I'd rather they just be posted as soon as they are official. Courtesy mail to Silent since he can't get online is great (I don't need one, but thanks for the offer!), but I don't think it's necessary to wait for candidate responses before the results are made open to the public.

Re: GC/TC Elections 2013

The results are in!

Silent Hunter narrowly won the elections for the office of General Coordinator at 12 votes to 11.

Euan Reid won the elections for TC with 58 ranked votes. Jason Andersen received a total of 43 ranked votes, spsblue: 22 ranked votes, and Firesky: 15 ranked votes.
