Topic: A WW2 esque sim

So, I'm a bit of a World War 2 buff, and uh. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a game set in the period.

You'd all be tankers, as that's pretty much my MO in the Army, and that's about all I've got right now.

SO uh, would anyone be interested?

Re: A WW2 esque sim

Tankers for which side and in what sort of tank?

Re: A WW2 esque sim

Well, uh. I was thinking all sides, and really most mid to late war tanks because while I like early war designs, I feel it would be too challenging to really play well. Oh tanks will also be very much a representation of your owners. As I kind of want this to be a slight romanticization of tankers and their machines

Re: A WW2 esque sim

I'm a fellow tanker, although we referred to our M551A1 vehicles as tinker-tanks.  I like the idea of an armor game... players representing a crewman, single track or a platoon?

I'm an Abrams man myself, and representing a single track.

Re: A WW2 esque sim

My great grandfather was a Tank CO in WW2, too bad he's no longer with us, else I'd have the perfect person to talk to for this!

I come from a line of them myself, and I apologize for your loss.

Re: A WW2 esque sim

My dad was a Navy dive bomber pilot in WW II, and his dad was Navy before him.  I think it about killed him when I enlisted in the Army.

So, are you thinking each player would control one vehicle?

Re: A WW2 esque sim

Yeah, each player with a tank. And my dads only gripe with me is that I didn't go into OCS until after my 1st tour. The reason for the 1 tank per player is mostly because I want you guys to build yourselves legends of sorts.

Re: A WW2 esque sim

I'll think a Panther is better. My uncle fought the Russians as infantry.

Re: A WW2 esque sim

Panther is definitely a better choice... I agree with Krista.  It was rated the best medium tank in the world until the 1950's.

Met an older German guy while on maneuvers in West Germany while in a night deployment.  He was on a StuG III crew in Italy and said every time they traveled about 75 km they had to stop and tighten bolts all over the vehicle.

Re: A WW2 esque sim

Well the panther may be far more reliable and better armored, but you can't beat the pure intimidation factor of the tiger.

As a GM NPC I will probably take on the role of a Firefly, and also. I have a name

Steel Beasts

Have you Americans ever heard of a company called Eddie Stobart?

Re: A WW2 esque sim

No I haven't but, the simulator we get some of our training on might have the same name.

So how about. Knights of Blood and Steel?

Edit: I have now Silent

Re: A WW2 esque sim

I'm feeling an M4A3E8 with a bunch of "non field approved modifications" or a T-44

Knights sounds good, but how do you feel about Female chars?
