Topic: Retail Bazare -Deck 2

Everything you could need from medical supplies to waving cat statues can be found in the retail shops. Many shops are also located on decks one and three.

Re: Retail Bazare -Deck 2

Lieutenant Samuel Arkwright, commander of 40 highly trained mercenaries employed by Anna Maczarek, walked through the second deck of the Skyplex, taking in the sights, smells and sounds of a busy retail area. A tall man with thinning hair, dressed in a generic black security guard uniform with the Maczarek Security insignia on his left sleeve and the badge of the Skyplex on the right one, he carried a nightstick, a nice peaked cap and a semi-automatic pistol.

It was his first day on the job and he was getting to know the place and its characters. He wanted to be a friendly but firm presence on "his beat", hoping people could trust him with their problems.

He walked alone; but he saw two other Eagles on patrol on this floor.

The two women rode the escalator to the main bazaar level. Scarlett pointed out some of the smaller shops that dotted the hub on their way up. Once at the top they stepped off into a dazzling array of colors, neon and chrome. "Ok, straight ahead is the garmet section. To the right is electronics. Home items and decor are towards the back. Sporting goods and weapon supply are to the left. Entertainment and novelties are behind up on the other side of the escalator. It's pretty much everything you could ever want all packed into a couple hundred shops. I used to think this was heaven."

Scarlett paused a moment to reorient herself amid the myriad of shops and marketing signs competing for shopper attention. "It took me until I was eleven to not get lost up here. The fact is I think some diabolical marketing mad man designed this deck to torture shoppers. There are some parts you can't even reach directly with out going up or down one deck. Seriously." She stated with a good natured nod.

Scarlett was happy to have Mina along. Having someone new that she liked made the Plex seem a little more magical again.

As they came up the stairs, Sam Arkwright walked towards them, raising his cap and bowing respectfully.

"Hello, Ms Wilson", he said, "I need to speak to you when you're free. I'm Lieutenant Arkwright, the new Deputy Marshall".

Mina just stared around the deck,  believe it or not it was the first time she was actually on this deck.  She had only been here about a week and most of it was getting sold and restructuring her contract with Tomas and meeting the band and practicing.  She has had no time until now to really look around the skyplex.  Mina was gonna answer Scarlett when Arkwright spoke to her and she fell slient.

Scarlett turned as the uniformed man caught her attention. He mind flashed through the personnel files for the new detachment of Maczarek Security that had just arrived. She gave him a smile of recognition. "Ah Mr. Arkwright, yes... I am in the process of conducting a tour of the station for Ms. Mang here. She is our new resident Headliner down at the Lucky 38. The owners think she's going to be quite the draw for the station.  Is there a pressing concern I should be aware of, Constable?"

Re: Retail Bazare -Deck 2

"Lieutenant, actually, but an easy mistake to make", Sam replied, "No, I'm just looking around. Mind if you join the pair of you?".

Mina kinda nudged Scarlett a bit she did NOT want Arkwright to accompany them and her facial expressions showed that pretty clearly.  She didn't trust MEN especially lawmen, her many complaints she made toward her former employer fell on deaf lawmen ears.

Scarlett felt the solid shove from Mina. The man certainly showed up at an inopportune time. Still she had to maintain good realtions with the station's workers, even the ones they contracted with. "Well certainly Lieutenant Arkwright. We were just on our way to inspect 'Ms. Lacy's Pretties and Unmentionables' for a little while. You would of course be welcome to join us if you desire. We promise not to take too long." She quickly turned to Mina and gave her a look that clearly indicated a devious interest in how the Mall Cop, sorry lawman, wished to conduct himself.

Scarlett was not thinking too kindly on the comment. In a time of crisis it was great to have a man willing to knock down doors and drag people out. When you were trying on lingerie, the undeterred male presence was not quite as welcome.  Not that they had planned to try on lingerie, but the Constable didn't seem to take the hint. Scarlett was interested to see how far the man would push it.

"Very good then. It's just over here."

Mina looked unnerved and awkward when Arkwright said yes almost disgusted that the man would visit such a place without even knowing the people the in question.  Mina realized after a moment that Scarlett had to be civil, however that didn't mean she had to be.

Mina finally mustered up some courage and put on a 'what the hell face' and spoke,  "Umm ya Scarlett you might not mind as well as you Mr. Arkwright but I do have a problem with some guy I just met accompanying us there."  Mina spoke scared out of her mind but she was used to hiding her fear pretty well.

Scarlett felt a bit embarrassed to have put Mina on the spot. Considering the general degrading attitude towards her being a girl she had been brought up around, she really didn't give a hoot who saw her in her knickers, but then she was trying to teach the new lawman a lesson. That was wrong and she felt a bit ashamed.

"Ms. Mang has a point. This is a family station, and it would not look right to have a gentleman standing around the women's shops. It tends to scare away business, and the shop keepers don't take kindly to that. You certainly understand Lieutenant Arkwright."

-Scarlett

Re: Retail Bazare -Deck 2

"I shall wait outside if it's an issue", Sam said, "I perfectly understand where you're coming from".

Sam didn't totally see it - weren't men just as much "consumers" of lingerie than the women who wore it?

Mina appeared frustrated that Arkwright was gonna follow them around, she DID NOT want him there.  "There is an issue just having you follow us around IS the issue."  Mina said without thinking and instantly regretted it she out of habit took a step away from Arkwright and prepared her mind for the pain that she thought was gonna happen.

Scarlett realised that she would need to the one to keep the peace here shortly.

"Lietenant, perhaps you should just leave this tour to the girls. I understand there may be some trouble brewing up in Phantasm down on level five. Do you think you could check in there and give me a status report."

There was always trouble at Phantasm, and it would likely irk  Alex Northman to have the security man poking around down there. It served him right, Alex had been flirting with her since he arrived on the station. Fetish clubs were not quite her cup of tea, but they worked for some folks, maybe the Leiutenant. Either way it let her and Mina get back to what they were doing before being interrupted.

Re: Retail Bazare -Deck 2

"My apologies", Arkwright said, "I shall go and do that".

Gracefully bowing, Arkwright departed and began to walk towards the elevators, with the intent of going to Phantasm. He wasn't hugely keen on fetish clubs himself, but he'd have to go in there at some point.

Scarlett gave Mina a long look of relief when the security man turned and exited. She had no doubts he was a good officer, his papers came with high recommendations and she knew Anna Maczerek rarely abided fools. All the same, he was beyond a third wheel at the moment. She made a note to treat him better in future dealings. But this was the time to shop.

"Glad that is over. Sorry for the scare there. I thought he would have had the good sense to leave."

-Scarlett

Mina breathed a sigh of relief as Arkwright departed her scared expressions turned a bit to worry before she shut those thoughts away *deal with it another time Mina* she thought to herself and tried to put on a smile.  "Sorry but it umm I am not comfortable at the moment dealing with well men."

Scarlett looked with compassion on her friend. "Remind me never to introduce you to Edgar." She could tell the poor woman had been gravely hurt by some man someplace. Scarlet couldn't point to any spefic trauma in her life as such, just a constant stae of belittlement. She heard that in the Core women were treated as complete equals. That was a long way from the Rim. Greenleaf was far better than some of the more distant moons, but folk were stil a bit pigheaded there abouts. "So what do you say we get back to fining those holowaves?" she said with a smile. "There's a great coffee place nearby too."

Mina tried to regain some composure and put on a smile before speaking, "Lets go."  As she started walking into the bazare.

Scarlett lead the way. It took little time for Mina to recognize that Scarlett was telling the truth in terms of the labyrinth of shops. Every conceivable theme, color, style and size assailed the senses to attract customers. However the fact was that it devolved into a constant blur of fascination where it was difficult to focus on any one thing.

After several minutes and half a dozen turns, Scarlett indicated they had arrived. The shop had the familiar glow of neon, but had a very modern all white interior that seemed to bend on all edges making an endless depth to the shop that bent the perception of the mind.  In the center of the store stood a quad of glass rooms. Each positioned around the central holoprojector. Inside the rooms the machine would create a seamless environment that transported the viewer to anywhere that the recording displayed.

A average height Asian woman with a name tag that said 'Saundra' in English and Mandarin walked towards them. "Welcome to Amoeba. What can I interest you in today? Anywhere in the verse, yours for the taking. We've got Thorrade Locke waves recorded live in the Core. The Londonium Shakespeare and Lloyd Weber Festival too."

Jane stepped from the elevator and walked slowly down the main concourse. She had a little bit of time before her appointment, so she did some window shopping along the way.

Re: Retail Bazare -Deck 2

The windows were decked out in their usual array of dazzling lights, colors and sounds that created an atmospheric texture to the Bazaar level. A small crowd of shoppers made there way zigzagging from one shop to another. Many shop keepers stood in the doorway of their establishment hawking wares and trying to lure customers inside.

A brightly lit merchantile and clothing emporium was in front of Jane. They seemed to be running an excellent sale on newly arrived clothing and goods.
