Re: Maczarek Security - Deck Six

OOC: I have this terrible habit of waiting for a reply before I post. I know where this scene should lead I'll keep posting until I reach the end point.

Re: Maczarek Security - Deck Six

OOC: Yeah, I'm familiar with that habit. We'll chalk this one up to beuracratic red tape from the Mackies. By all means continue.

Re: Maczarek Security - Deck Six

<----------------------------Time Cut----------------------------------------------->

The rumble of the decks and the sudden failure of power throughout the security office told the officer in charge something bad was happening.

A minute later as all the systems rebooted themselves and the red lights came on, the entire station called 911.

The code from the administrator called for Emergency Protocol 3. The Protocol prioritized all resources for rescue, repair and recovery crews. All shops on deck 2 were to be closed and sealed. Commerce at the docks was limited to emergency services only. Schools were in lock down. Customer service was going our the airlock for a bit.

The warning alerts were coming from Deck 5 in the proximity of Phanstasm Fettish Club. Calls were coming in for fire, medical and security. The Mackies were going to be understaffed for this kind of a disaster.

Re: Maczarek Security - Deck Six

Arkwright had been monitoring the bomb hunt when the rumble and the brief power failure (fortunately, the computer were on an un-interruptable supply) made it abundantly clear that they had failed.

Dragan Morris looked up at his CO and the look on his face was one that looked he had seen a ghost. Any words he might have said were interrupted when the 911 console lit up like a U-Day party.

Morris answered the first call as Arkwright's radio crackled with the Emergency Protocol 3 call...

As Morris started to reassure the first panicked woman and the call waiting log jumped to 54, Lieutenant Samuel Arkwright knew this situation went way beyond the scale of his platoon. He was going to have to call for help.

He moved to a free console and logged in to the Maczarek Security Tactical Database to find which ships of theirs were within an hour's flight time of the station.

One frigate and an axillary med ship... unfortunately, it was only a Firefly. Total available mercs, less than 25. He was going to need at least a hun...

The phone by his desk rang and he grabbed it.

"Arkwright sp..."

The voice of Nina Havel cut straight through. He didn't know how she got this number, but that was irrelevant.

"It's Major Havel", she said, "I assume that you're activating Article 16? Regardless, Rostock is yours for the duration. I need the landlock lifted to launch my fighters for a survey of the damage".

"I need authorisation from the administrator for that. I'll have to call her".

"Noted. My guys are being scrambled as we speak. There's a Brent Cross officer on this station called Colonel Anders Fogh - he's staying in Ring Suite 8. He's commander of 2nd Westfield and I know they've got another carrier forty minutes out. I'll call him - I'd suggest you put him in command of the operation; he handled the Whitefall 2 bombing two years back".

"Understood - and thank you", Arkwright said.

"Our rivalry is trumped by this and you know it".

Nina hung up.

Re: Maczarek Security - Deck Six

The call came into the security office. "Lt. Arkwirght, Station Administrator Wilson is requesting your immediate presence at the command center in the Golden Paradise Casino on Deck 5. "

-Rigel

Re: Maczarek Security - Deck Six

Golden Paradise Casino? That wasn't the designated emergency command centre... Arkwright thought.

"Negative, no can do", he replied, "I'm staying here to coordinate my team. Please be advised that I have activated Article 16 of the Charter of Private Security... we'll be having assistance from Wallenstein and Brent Cross in this..."

Another call came through.

"It's Nina Havel", a woman's voice said, "Please be advised that one of my guys has just killed a looter on Deck 2. What he wanted with ladies' underwear, we'll never know. Med units are heading for you and are six minutes out".

This was at a run - the elevators were out of operation for the time being.

Re: Maczarek Security - Deck Six

<-----------------------------------------------Time Cut -------------------------------------------->

The state of the emergency had kept the security headquarters buzzing for hte last couple hours, but some calm seemed to be settling on the station, in large part due to the heightened security presence from outside contractors.

Sam Arkwright's priority message light came on his Cortex.

=Leuitenant Arkwright, the station administrator would like you to immediately secure all Wallenstein personell on this station. Their co-operation is no longer necessary. And please send back up to Berth 6. =

-Marta, Ops Officer

Re: Maczarek Security - Deck Six

Arkwright took a look at the message on his display, his mouth steadily opening. Behind him, Colonel Fogh and a Wallenstein Lieutenant, Elena Trescott were preparing for the assault on Odyssey, monitoring berth six... when the lights came on.

"What in [censored] is going on?" Fogh said as he saw Arkwright staring at his Cortex. The Mackie turned to him.

"I've just been asked to arrest all the Wallensteiners on this station, the station administrator saying so..."

Fogh's eyebrow raised and he chuckled, as did Trescott... they knew that this wasn't going to happen; the Wallensteiners outnumbered the Mackies about 2.5 to 1, even before taking the firepower of Rostock into consideration.

"Lieutenant Arkwright?" he asked, "Are you of the opinion that Administrator Wilson has mislaid the map room and is no longer fit to command this facility".

"Well...." he said.

"Yes or no?"

"No... not yet".

"Lieutenant Trescott, are you of that opinion?"

"Yes, sir", she said, "I am".

"Then I concur", Fogh said. He took a glance at his watch, then reached for a piece of paper. He wrote something down on it.

"Lieutenant Arkwright", he continued, "I am asking you to contact Administrator Wilson, ask her what on Londinium she is playing at and if you do not get a satisfactory answer, I will deem her relieved of command due to mental incapacity... I believe that your contract has a provision for that... I know it did when we ran this place".

Samuel Arkwright felt like a man hesitating over whether to launch a nuclear missile while his colleague was yelling at him to turn the key. He moved to the radio console.

"Administrator Wilson?" he asked, "Please kindly tell me why you've locked down the outer approaches to Berth Six and why you want to me to arrest the Wallensteiner forces? They are operating with my explicit authority, handed to Colonel Fogh".

Fogh's carrier, Shenfield had got away later than planned, but was 15 minutes out and packed enough firepower to destroy the station. Twice.

Re: Maczarek Security - Deck Six

The response came back fairly quickly, Scarlett sounded none too pleased.

"Last time I checked, your people and the Wallensteins worked for this station. I will not have Major Havel, a suspect in a crime on this station, refuses to update me on an uncleared military raid on a commercial vessel and then have me removed from the area. This is not a war zone Lieutenant, and if your respective companies want to treat it like that, I can have a platoon of purple bellies up here from the garrison on the planet in fifteen minutes too fix your problem. I should have you know representatives of Blue Sun are also on the station right now, and this situation could end up going poorly for both your companies core interests. Even in emergency situations, you coordinate with me, not run things on your own authority. I should not need to remind you who pays your company. That can change, rapidly. Now comply with my request."

-Scarlett

Re: Maczarek Security - Deck Six

Arkwright was about to respond, when one of his guards drew his attention to the screen. He saw the readout from Berth Six's air pressure and his face went red.

"I authorised this raid..." he said, "And under the terms of contract, I don't need to consult with you before the fact where the station's security is at direct risk".

He put the radio down and on speaker, as he signed the authorisation document.

"Any hope of a reasoned discussion ended the second you started de-pressurisation of Berth Six... that's twenty counts at least of attempted murder, missy. Consider yourself relieved of command on the grounds of insanity and let it be clear - you mess with one of us, you mess with all of us".

He released the talk button.

"Overly dramatic?" he asked.

Fogh shook his head and started to instruct the 150 or so mercs on this station to arrest Wilson on sight.

Re: Maczarek Security - Deck Six

"You do realize that rendering 20 some odd highly armed mutinous individuals unconscious is for their own safety and that of the public. This is a commercial station, you cannot relieve me of command, nor legally proceed on this course of action. You can arrest me, but a report is being filed with the Alliance as we speak. I trust you will be prepared when they get here. And you should be aware that Greenleaf Skyplex will be pursuing other security options in the future."

At least it'd be memorable. Something for the article Ongoing Worlds want to blog...

If keeping the radio on wasn't an operational requirement, Samuel Arkwright would have gladly muted this woman.

Instead, he tried to avoid flying off the handle and calling her something he'd regret in the morning. The lawyers would have to sort out the rest of the issue - he hoped this was a mutual default.

Re: Maczarek Security - Deck Six

The public alert system came on followed by the following message.

=Attention! This is Administrator Scarlett Newman Wilson. Mercenaries from Maczerek Security have taken control of the station. I advise everyone to seek cover before Alliance troops arrive.=

Re: Maczarek Security - Deck Six

OOC: Seen it now. Sorry.

IC: Arkwright heard the radio and handed it to Fogh.

"This is Colonel Fogh of Brent Cross Security... we were attempting to apprehend a fugitive in this bombing when your crazy little Administrator tried to suffocate some of my mercs".

The Wallie and Arkwright both raised their eyebrows at this.

IC:
="Well, Colonel Fogh, I don't remember Brent Cross being in charge of security for this station. However, considering the circumstances, I appreciate the help. At this time I am taking over the security operations for the station. I'd like a full report on the situation. Where is this fugitive now? What is the status of your mercs?"=

A moment later the elevator down the hall would ding, marking the Marshal's arrival.
