Topic: Before the Mast

Anyone up for allying with this Age of Sail pirate RP?

Re: Before the Mast

Absolutely. I don't know all that much about them, but everything I do know I like.

Re: Before the Mast

Here's the affiliation page.

Should we have banner code freely available? I think we should?

Re: Before the Mast

The banner code? I'm not sure what you mean - for our banner? We can't offer any one code for that because multiple sites will prefer different sorts of code - some may use HTML, CSS, or even a simplified code source (something exclusive to the host site which means a-dime-a-dozen different methods of coding) plus other possibilities I haven't considered.

Rather than try to create 20+ different source codes, it's likely easiest to just give them the banner and the url we want it to follow and have them deal with encoding it. I think Euan would agree?

As for our coding someone else's banner, if we want to create something like what they have so that our affiliates can make their own banner setup for our site that's fine.

Re: Before the Mast

Why not offer them the standard options - HTML, BB and CSS?

Re: Before the Mast

I think offering HTML and BBCode would make sense, since most sites will use one of the two, but I agree that beyond those two we should just go "here's the image, here's the link, you make the code". With that in mind...

HTML:

<a href="http://www.phoenix-rp.com"><img src="IMAGEURL" alt="Phoenix Roleplaying"/></a>

BBCode:

[url=http://www.phoenix-rp.com][img]IMAGEURL[/img][/url]

I'm not sure whether we want to give them the link to the image hosted by us, or if we'd rather give them the image for them to host themselves. Perhaps the former, but mention that the latter is fine too?

Re: Before the Mast

Presumably if we give them the link to the image hosted by us, they'd be able to download the image then upload it to their own host if they wanted to do it that way?

Re: Before the Mast

That sounds a good idea - I've added our link to their site and also suggested they copy the image:

Re: Before the Mast

PS I've added the button myself - hopefully I've not broken anything.

Re: Before the Mast

Locking this as the links are now done.
