Topic: Reopening Zodiac Mercenaries

It is the year 1026 Post Destruction. In the year 3087 AD. A T-Drive (Tesseract drive) vessel was hijacked by terrorists and driven into the earth. The catastrophic explosion wiped out the entire New England region as well as south-eastern Canada. The ensuing cataclysm changed the planet's ecosystems that only a few locations are still habitable, albeit barely.  Because of such Earth has now been transformed from the birthplace of humanity to a maximum security prison planet. The prisoners are all accused of various violent crimes.
The locations which are still populated are all mountainous regions to include:
-Denver, Colorado, Rocky Mountains, USA
-Machu Pichu, Peru, Andes Mountains, Peru
-Fort William, Scotland, ivo Ben Nevis Mountain
-The Himalayas, Nepal
-Swiss Alps
-Alborz Mountains, Iran
With the exception of Denver and the Alps, these areas not only are the camps, but the training grounds of the elite, power armor infantry known as the "Broncos". The pilots for these suits are selected from choice prisoners that meet certain traits and attributes that certain suit entities work well with. This infantry consists of human beings that have a symbiotic relationship with a bio-organic combat suit. As a Bronco they travel throughout the known and unknown galaxy doing the dirty work of the Zodiac Houses. Not all of the candidates survive the process. Between the initial testing and the suit training, only about 3 in 10 graduate through the entire program.
Upon completion of the program, the surviving candidates into a squad with other suit pilots under the command of a Master Gunnery Sergeant or "Master Guns" for short. Each squad has at least one of each type of combat suit. All suit types are unique with capabilities that no other suit type can completely match.

Re: Reopening Zodiac Mercenaries

Everyone will be starting on a squad. There are seven suit types:

  • Zeus Class Command Suit

  • Ares Class Assault/Weapons Suit

  • Apollo Class Aerial Interdiction Suit

  • Hades Class Heavy Suit

  • Hermes Class Scout/Sniper Suit

  • Hephaestus Class Medic/Repair Suit

  • Orpheus Class Engineer/Countermeasures Suit

Each squad is nominally made up of one type of Suit, although there have been instances where specialty squads have been deployed One such case is when a group of five Ares Suits decided to use strictly melee style weapons, and called themselves the Templars.

Re: Reopening Zodiac Mercenaries

I think Skullette will be most happy here.

Re: Reopening Zodiac Mercenaries

Some suit info to cover some possible questions:

Type: ’Zeus’ Command Suits:
Brief Description: Only the most trustworthy of pilots are promoted to Command. Equipped with a kill switch for all squad members, the Zeus while not a match for the Ares in pure offensive power, is no slouch. The Zeus can remote link into all the suits Heads-up Displays (HUD) to have a better idea about what is going on with his team. They are usually equipped with medium-range energy rifles as well as an energy spear, melee only, for standard loadout.

Type: ‘Hermes’ Scout/Sniper Powered Combat Suits
Brief Description: Fairly mobile experts in stealth and reconnaissance the Hermes prefer to stay at range with their powerful sniper rifle, but are able to handle themselves well using the preferred weapon of their training grounds, the kukri.

Type: ‘Ares’ Powered Combat Suits
Brief Description: The Ares specialize in making things dead. They use their massive chain gun at range, and rely on their arsenal of melee weapons to dispatch those that get in too close.

Type: ‘Hades’ Powered Combat Suits
Brief Description: Only on a rare occasion do things survive after coming under attack by a Hades. The Hades is the heavy weapons suit. Slow and implacable they soften up the enemy with high-damage weapons.

Type: ‘Apollo’ Flight capable Powered Combat Suits
Brief Description: Iron Man without all the bells and whistles. This suit is the primary long range recon and close air support system. Working in tandem with other suits, it provides excellent command and control for the teams.

Type:’Hephaestus’ Medic/Repair Suits:                                                                                                   Brief Description: The Hephaestus class is the medic found throughout all the other classes. They are known to the others as the “Anvils” since they can fix almost anything.  They specialize in treating battlefield trauma situations many times bringing their patients back from death’s door. Their weapon is generally only a sidearm to preserve their suits reserves for medicinal purposes. A scalpel is their blade and it can be used as a defensive weapon in a pinch. Hephaestus’ suits are also capable of producing a large electrical charge to be used to either repair suits or bodies or in to harm an enemy close up.

Type:’Orpheus’ Technophage Suits:                                                                                                        Brief Description: Real-time intelligence-gathering cyber-saboteur. This suit is equipped with powerful radar, rechargeable shield, nanite swarm technology, and also has optional drone-based capabilities. The armor has very limited defensive capabilities, but makes up for it with slightly higher speed due to being very light weight.

"I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well to tell you the truth in all this excitement I kinda lost track myself. Do you have pictures for the suites and weapons Brandon, or is it up to us to find something fitting? ^__^

Re: Reopening Zodiac Mercenaries

Spart, I don't have a set picture for any one of the suits, but there are a couple of them out there that I found which really work. Each suit type has a similar basic structure, but because it is a living being in a close symbiotic relationship with the pilot, it does alter a bit depending on the pilot's personality. In a nutshell, all of the suits are very sleek, no matter how large they are.

Kevin has an idea for a banner that shows some of what we are going to use. However if you can find something you like, feel free. I will have more specs put up on the actual sim page.

Re: Reopening Zodiac Mercenaries

The sim has a SL, a GM, enough players and even a banner... what more could you ask for? Approved and greenlit.

Re: Reopening Zodiac Mercenaries

My questions are..... You it pulling out of inactive, yes?

Should it go up as new?
and
Sci-fi section?

Re: Reopening Zodiac Mercenaries

I say do it as new. I am revamping alot of it, and it is a mix of old and new players. It would fit under either Military or Sci-Fi.

Re: Reopening Zodiac Mercenaries

Looks interesting.  No idea what the setting's supposed to look like, but I may have a go at a character idea over the weekend.  I'll probably take Hephaestus, because everyone loves the medic.
