Re: The Morgue - Primary Suit Operations

Miguel had by this point been suited up, and had spent the intervening time running over all his suit's logistics, testing the weapons, and conducting his equivalent of small talk. Which was to say, a lot of rambling.

He tramped over to the ship, giving Skullette a shoulder as he walked past. "See you down there chica..." he transmitted to her, a snide grin on his face.

Re: The Morgue - Primary Suit Operations

Skullette shook off the involuntary desire to vomit that came from Chuchillo's comment. She knew the importance of keeping her squad intact but really wouldn't mind if one didn't make it back. She banished that thought from her mind. Even if he was a psychotic monster that murdered untold good people back home, she accepted him/it on her team, and she needed to live with that decision. Psychos could make good pilots... sometimes. She followed Big E down to the ship to find...

=What the Hell! Did folks ride the short bus to the briefing? Two groups people! Coverage team drops first, so they are near the back. Extraction team jumps last, so they are in the front. I apparently didn't bring enough body bags for this operation. ^%#%ing get it right people! Lumberjack got it right. Coverage Team get with him! Everyone else to the front of the ship! Let's go!=

She stood by the entry door to wait for the squad to reshuffle themselves.

Re: The Morgue - Primary Suit Operations

Tavarian unplugs his suit. He goes over to right beside LumberJack and plugs his suit back up. [Hey Justin, play some music.] Alright man what do you want? [ Just play something that'll help me sleep.] Alright. He then closes his eyes and tries to fall asleep, which is possible since the inside is cushioned with comfortable padding.

Destiny is a freight train rolling along on a set course that only the conductor knows. When we get to the railroad crossing in our car, we can choose to stop and wait for the train to pass us by, or try to pull out in front of it and beat that bad boy across. That choice is our free will. If it's our destiny to be hit by the train, we will be hit by the train. The only thing we can change is how the train turns us into a hamburger.

Angel sighs inside the confines of her helmet and disconnects from the berth.  Part of her wants to argue back, to point out that drop order and drop location had not featured at all in her briefing.  A smarter part of her considers it a better plan to not open her first mission by picking a fight with her commander.

She moves up toward the front, still hanging back behind the two Hades, Apollo and Hermes.

-I hear music- Diana said in Skullete's mind. She looked around the drop ship. -Who is playing it Di?- A moment passed, -I am picking it up from Justin.- Skullette rolled her eyes. Flyboys. Tavarian's biometrics came up in her display. Lowered heart rate, low blood pressure and decreased mental functions... he fell asleep! -Di, patch me into Justin's audio systems. Moments later a fine tune of music began playing in her suit. -Drop a new beat on him.- she ordered her synapic interface bringing up the squelch commands.

=AAAAAARRRRRREEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEe!!!!= Started blasting in Tavarian's ears.

-Skullette

Re: The Morgue - Primary Suit Operations

Tavarian fell asleep again and was woken up by a weird but loud noise. this time it woke him so fast he jumped and accidentally unplugged his suit from the ship."*$%^. who was that?"yo birdman, plug me back in. [alright.turn the music down I have a feeling I will not be going back to sleep anytime soon.] Tavarian bent down and plugged his suit back in. he used the system Lumberjack opened up and yelled - WHO WAS THAT!-

"Attention everyone, this is Dr. Faust. I have had the Orpheus patch the entire team's communications. If you wish to speak privately with a suit, just say their call-sign, or suit name, and begin speaking. For team-wide messages, say all before your transmission. Additionally, you will each note two small HUDs not normally on your suit's screens; these are the Orpheus surveillance drones. I will leave the aerial drone to provide overwatch of the Distraction team, while the ground drone will scout for the Extraction unit. Any questions?"

The outer door on the drop ship slowly began to lower. Skullette could hear Tavaraian screeching over the com system. She walked by his berth as he fidgeted in his seat wanting to go agro on anyone. She stopped in front of him and squatted down, cueing the com system in his suit only.

=What's up flyboy?  You planning to throw down with someone here on the ship. You gonna blast some holes in your team mates because you couldn't get your beauty sleep? Tough! =welcome to the Party Big E, i m sure we're going to have a blast down there on this mining rock.= Lukas chuckled
=Hehe, Sorry Pheonix, wasn't me.= He nearly started to laugh as Sworty told him what happend =i was busy with the missionplanning tool, to set you guys some waypoints.=
=No questions Doc, thanks for the drone. I would appreciate if you could Set the drone in a simple follow mode, so it stays with the fireteam as overhead observator.=

Without waiting for an answer, he switched to the fireteams subchannel.

=Listen, i set up waypoints for the touchdown.
I don't want you to stand around and stare.
We get to the closest cover and start the Party.
I want all vectors coverd when we move, no worries i'm setting everything up right now, so you just need to follow your HUDs.=

The briefing was a joke, but forcefeeding these people somekind of failsave basics might help to see the inside of the ship again.

=Phoenix, you have to stay on the ground as long as we don't have contact with the enemy. I want you to quickly change positions once we've smoked the area.
This should help to mask our numbers. And they hopefully won't bring anti air if they don't know that we have a flyer with us. Should make the 2nd part of your mission lot easier.

Big E in case no one told you, this is a simple snatch and grab mission. Package callsign is 'Princess'.=

The whole time Lukas was setting up dynamic waypoints in relation to Swortys position.
Once we hit the ground change our color to something that fades with the enviorment and could you please keep the waypoints updated once the shooting starts? I guess i'm too busy by then to keep an eye on the others.

During the audio chaos brought on by opening of several communication channels, Gideon was able to slip onto the dropship and into his appropriate seat without being noticed.  In his seat, he flexed and relaxed his hands, dispelling the last shreds of anxiety and stress from his mind.

He sat quietly, listening to the chatter of the distraction team's communications. Good, Lumberjack has a plan.  Dante, as soon as possible, I want details on our waypoints. And if you could suggest a way to get hold of a map or layout of the area we'll be fighting in, that'd be great.

As Skullette took her seat and jacked in, the first sounds of the launch rumbled through the vessel, cutting off the ability of external communications. The sounds would decrease over the next few minutes as the vessel exited the Earth's atmosphere, until it reached the first checkpoint. The checkpoint is established to prevent any unauthorized departures from the planet.

Miguel had since drawn his knife, and was running it between the fingers of the suit, from this hand to the other, back and forth... Behind the visor his eyes were fixed on the blade, watching it dance from one to the other.

He paid little to no heed to any of the ruckus going on around him, until Tavarian had his little flip out. This brought his eye up, and he watched the situation unfold. Until Skullette stepped him down. Then Miguel started laughing.

He didn't stop until they'd almost reached the first checkpoint.

Re: The Morgue - Primary Suit Operations

The dropship shuddered as it bounced along the outer atmosphere making its way tot he check point. The check point didn't do much, it really was a fixed location for legitimate traffic to leave the atmosphere instead of being torched to a cinder by the nearly invisible web of hunter killer satellites lurking above them. Being a legitimate Bronco operation, they passed without incident, although few could fly through a checkpoint without silently praying that some idiot didn't accidentally get them blown to bits.

From there it was the infinite expanse of the cosmos. Clear of the dominant gravitational pull of the earth, the ship cut its conventional engines. The warning light flashed on in the troop section of the ship. =Tesserach fold in one minute.= The automated voice over the speakers stated. Skullette checked the straps in her berth and her connection to the ship. God she hated this part. Man may have been made to fly in the air and travel in space, but she was pretty sure nothing was created that was supposed to fold space and time upon itself and essentially realign the universe with their fixed point in space. But still that's what they were doing. The experience and the physics involved were equally unnatural. =Tessearch Fold commencing.=

And with that it began. Skullette felt her senses spin with pronounced vertigo. Her stomach lurched with a growing sickness as her limbs felt they were being pulled and pressed together at the same time. What would only be moments seemed to last an eternity. The mission clock would only elapse 3 seconds, but each pilot was submerged into a world of their own memories, regrets, joys, exultations and remorse. The sensations were as personal as a lover and as desolate as a wilderness. Some would experience euphoria, some bitter lonliness, others would see beyond their own lives into places and things. There on the edge of personal madness, reality crashed in. And like that they had arrived. =Fold complete.= the voice said as the main lights in the ship came back on.
