Topic: [MARS] What's this?

This forum is for folks to discuss MARS in. There's a google group, but the idea is currently to keep that for the folks doing the development and suchlike to toss around code and the like. This is an open forum for people to get the current situation, make suggestions, ask questions and so on.

Re: [MARS] What's this?

Can we get a status update?

Re: [MARS] What's this?

What will the overall structure be like? How similar will it be to PARS?

Re: [MARS] What's this?

I'll take the questions in reverse order.

Silent: The overall structure is still somewhat a work in progress. It will be similar to PARS, since that had a lot of good points, but there'll be some changes - you'll only have to log in once to access all your sims, for example. Other changes...uh....what seems appropriate. Once the basic system is put together I think development will become much more public.

Jason: We have a functioning basic site and CMS (sorta). The login system is there, but not tested, and the posting system may or may not be there (if anyone else has been looking at stuff more in depth than the fixes I was doing last weekend, feel free to say). The development testbed is up, and the link will be made freely available once we've got the basics together and definitely working.

Re: [MARS] What's this?

Sounds good. If you need any beta testing done at any stage (so no technical knowledge required, just some intensive use to see if there are bugs) I'm happy to help.

Re: [MARS] What's this?

Once we've got the thing together in a working state, where beta testing is actually possible, we'd be delighted to have you, and hopefully others, trying your darndest to break it smile I'm thinking perhaps a sim could be run on a testbed, so there's an actual environment to utilise.

Re: [MARS] What's this?

So now Daniel and Chris are resuming development of MARS, I'm closing this thread, desticking it and adding a tag to the title - but we'll keep it for posterity. Dan and Chris have been made mods of the MARS forum, and I'm told we might get status updates from time to time.
