Re: Episode 1: Making Friends and Shooting People

Rekara looked pained as Cyrenia spoke of not accepting orders, and spoke up.  "Cyrenia, I do not reject your orders, I was simply suggesting you take the larger quarters as Captain.  I have less gear and my needs are simple."  When she stated she would take the larger quarters, the pilot gave her a slight bow of respect and said, "By your command."  He then picked up his gear and headed for the Co-pilot's quarters to get settled in.

After setting his gear down in his quarters, Rekara paused to go to the galley and rummage about.  In a few minutes, the aroma of coffee brewing began to drift throughout the ship.  Nothing like a good cup of coffee to bring a crew together, he thought with a slight smile.

Re: Episode 1: Making Friends and Shooting People

Caden watched the flare of tensions with a concerned look. Once Rekara had left, he turned to Cyrenia. "I don't think he meant anything by it, ma'am. Rek's a genuinely nice guy, far as I can tell-"

Breaking off mid sentence he spun around at the last second to snatch a metal staff tossed at his head. Striding towards him, Raisa grinned, brandishing her own. "Want a shot at the top bunk, brother?"

Spoken like a true Echani. Mostly a formality, since he'd never been able to beat her one on one before, but in an enclosed space like this? Who knew? "Oh it's on, sister..." He twirled the staff behind his back and settled into a defensive crouch. The two slowly began to circle the mostly obstruction-free cargo bay floor, each looking for an opening. "You did pack the kolto gel, right?" The green slimy medicine would be needed for bruise/cut treatments post-sparring.

"All we had. Why, you plan on getting hit?" Raisa teased, before abruptly darting forward, bringing her staff around in a leg sweep that caught Caden off guard. As he hit the floor he rolled left, bringing up his staff to deflect her follow-up strike sideways before using an open palm strike to knock her backwards off him. As soon as he was on his feet she was on him, the two trading a rapid-fire series of strikes and counterstrikes that filled the air with metallic ringing sounds.

Cyrenia was going to say something before Rekara walked off. Turning to Caden for his thoughts before the Echani's sister began to challenge him for a shot at the top.

The mercenary leaned up against the door to watch the twins fight, well she leaned up against the door the analyze the twins' movements. Learn intelligence and see if she could fight them up close if given the need.

"I'll spar the winner. If they wouldn't mind" she deadpanned from her position

Re: Episode 1: Making Friends and Shooting People

It didn't take long for Rekara to get his gear stored away in the cabin, but what he did have was neatly stowed.  He hummed a tune from home as he worked, and soon heard the sounds of combat coming from down the hall.  He stopped by the galley and poured himself a mug of fresh coffee, then walked back to the hold to watch the contestants battle it out.  He walked up next to Cyrenia and smiled, then turned his attention to the twins.

Re: Episode 1: Making Friends and Shooting People

Caden pressed the attack as hard as he could, trying to drive Raisa back towards the port wall. Feinting an overhead blow, he reversed and swung the staff sideways. His sister reacted with an unexpected lunge forward, pitting their faces mere inches apart as they locked staves. "Give up?" he grunted, grinning.

"Never." In one smooth move, she released her right hand and landed a quick jab to Caden's throat that left him coughing and stumbling, then brought her staff down on his wrist, knocking his weapon free. Dodging the retaliatory swing she had known was coming, she landed two rapid strikes to his abdomen and head, sending Caden tumbling to the floor.

"Ow." Contemplating the ceiling, he just laid there. "Give me a moment. There's a really fascinating bug down here."

"Uh huh." Kneeling down, Raisa took his hand and helped her brother to his feet. "I'll call this one a draw."

"That's hilarious sis." He rubbed the back of his head and headed towards the crew quarters.. "I'm gonna go unpack and put my kidneys back in place."

"Wuss," she called after him. "I didn't hit you THAT hard." Once he had left, Raisa scooped up the staff Caden had been using and turned to face their spectators. "Anyone else up?" she asked with a smile, scooping a stray hair strand out of her eyes. "Lieutenant?"

Re: Episode 1: Making Friends and Shooting People

Rekara watched the bout with interest as he sipped his coffee, and winced when Caden landed on the deck.  "Ouch", he said quietly.  When Raisa asked for a new opponent, Rekara was quick to respond, saying, "No, no, thank you Raisa, I have no skill in such pursuits."  When she asked the LT, the pilot looked over at her for her response.  She was a deadly opponent in combat, and he wondered if the two women were about to spar.

"Of course" Cyrenia said as she got up stretching

"I'm always ready to fight my buurenar" She said with a thin smile as she entered the ring and took her stance.

The merc knew Raisa was good, but she also new she was good and was excited to test her metal. As all Mandos should be

OOC: Silver, since based off the rolls you win the fight by a slim margin, I'd like you to RP the close tongue

IC: Raisa circled the merc slowly, making a brief lunge occasionally as she probed her defenses, looking for an opening. As soon as she struck, though, she realized she'd have to change her pattern of attack; Cyrenia wasn't as fast as Caden, but she hit a hell of a lot harder and could take a harder hit as well. Blast, she thought, shifting stance. Blitz tactics weren't gonna work, this was a "wear them down" fight, and the trooper hadn't just fought a moment ago.

Darting in, she brought the staff down with raw force, attempting to stagger the older fighter.

Re: Episode 1: Making Friends and Shooting People

Raisa was giving Cyrenia a workout, the younger Echani was faster, certainly, but Cyrenia had experience and could read her opponents. As the Echani kept weaving, she kept reading, waiting and reading, and waiting and reading. She knew she had the stamina to keep this up for a while, the hits weren't taxing her as much and her body could take it.Waiting and reading continued, and Cyrenia grew impatient, having to calm herself as to not open herself up for an attack.

Luckily, Raisa gave her the opening she needed, a staff drop to the head, Cyrenia pivoted and grabbed the staff in her bicep, using the force to rip it from Raisa's grasp while in turn dropping her own and following up with a strong punch to the chest, not hard enough to break anything, but hard enough to knock the air out of her lungs and knock her to the floor.

OOC: Apologizes, if this was meant as a strictly staff fight, I can re write it if so.

Re: Episode 1: Making Friends and Shooting People

Rekara watched the fight closely, fascinated by the skilled movements of the contestants.  Back and forth. move and countermove, each testing the other... it was amazing.  Then suddenly, like the strike of an angler fish, Cyrenia made a move that put Raisa on the mat.  It reminded him never to let anyone with a melee weapon in hand get close to him.  "Well done, both of you", he said encouragingly.

OOC: Nah you good fam tongue

IC: From her position on the floor, Raisa did her best to tune out her brother laughing as she rolled forward onto her feet. "Thanks," she said, extending a hand to Cyrenia, pointedly not looking at Caden. "You fought well, lieutenant. I am honored to have you by my side for this mission." She smiled ruefully. "I am ashamed to admit that I was overconfident. It is good to have oneself grounded from time to time."

Caden walked over to Rekar, still smiling as he gestured around them at the ship. "Got her ship shape, fueling's done... we're ready to fly when the captain says go." He chewed thoughtfully on one nail. "You got any experience flying one of these things? I hear they handle pretty smoothly, if a touch sensitive one the controls. 'course, the guy who told me that wasn't exactly the most sober of sources, so I'm not sure I'd put any stock into his word on it."

Re: Episode 1: Making Friends and Shooting People

The pilot was finishing his coffee and listening to his shipmates when Caden approached.  He turned his attention to the young man and nodded as he heard the ship was ready to lift.  "Very good then, thank you Caden.  If we are planning to depart soon, I will begin a pre-flight inspection and get us ready", he said.  He began by pulling his data pad from his flight coveralls and bringing up a pre-flight checklist for this class of ship.  "Most ships of this size are nimble", he explained to Caden.  "Though I haven't flown one of this particular class before, I anticipate an excellent and responsive ship."  He stopped and smiled at Caden for a moment before continuing the pre-flight outside the ship, saying, "But we shall see presently, eh?"

IC: Cyrenia blinked twice as she helped Raisa up and gave her another one of her ice cold smiles. "Think nothing of it, I'm sure you just underestimated me because of my advanced age compared to yours" She said as she held the staff out for Caden to take from her.

Glancing at Ki'ora finally she rolled her eyes. "I have control over my strength, my intention was to knock her down, not break her ribs."

Finally to Rekara "Pilot Rekara, are we good to go?"

Rekara turned as he started down the access ramp and replied, "I am completing the pre-flight now, LT.  As soon as this is completed successfully, we will be ready to lift ship."  He waited for a second to see if she was  going to add a comment, then turned and headed down to the hanger floor.

Using the data pad as a guide, combined with his own knowledge and experience, Rekara checked the new ship from stem to stern.  It all seemed to be in good order, but he'd be able to tell more about this lovely lady when he got her into space.  In a short time, the pilot returned to the ship's interior and sought out Cyrenia.

"Captain, we are good to lift ship.  I have spoken with Engineer Caden, who assures me all is ready from his perspective."  He paused and then asked her, "Permission to lift ship?"

With an excited grin, Caden casually smacked his hand against the loading ramp controls. The ramp lifted up and sealed into place with a metallic thud. Once that was done, he strode confidently off towards the port engine control; everything was ready, but it never hurt to watch the machinery in action. Just in case.

Gathering the dueling staffs, Raisa headed for the arms room to pack everything away. Wouldn't do to have stray items floating around when they left atmo.

Re: Episode 1: Making Friends and Shooting People

Rekara did his best to disguise the thrill running through him as he walked to the Bridge, then assumed the pilot's seat.  He finished his pre-flight at the controls, and with all systems showing green, he started the ship's engines.  The whine of the powerful engines surged into being, as a slight vibration of life sprang into being in the deck plates beneath their feet.

He watched the instruments closely, and was reassured by indicators showing all was well.  Lastly, he called flight control for clearance to leave, saying "Nar Shaddaa Control this is Eliza Battle in Docking Ring 1465, requesting outbound vector and permission to lift ship, over."

Re: Episode 1: Making Friends and Shooting People

"Aye, aye", Rekara said in reply to the LT.  Then he made the announcement on the ship-wide intercom saying, "All hands, we are lifting ship."  He made sure the inertial dampeners were on before he throttled up the engines, and the docking bay began to recede beneath them.  The engines performance felt good to the pilot, and when he had cleared the docking bay he headed the Eliza Battle up and out on the assigned departure vector.

Everything went smoothly, and he entered the navigational data into the computer for their jump to the Sollust system and ultimately its moon.  He relished space flight, and enjoyed maneuvering their ship through the flow of traffic out away from the planet and its gravitational field.  When he was sufficiently clear of the planet, he keyed the intercom and said, "All hands, prepare for jump to light speed".  With the stars ahead of them, Rekara engaged the jump drive and the star field seemed to suddenly stream by them.

They were now on their way...
