[ Closed ] EVC elections

As per request I will explain a bit about how being the EVC works. Basically you have to run all elections and official votings on the forums, which sounds like a lot more work than it is.

When Robert Longtin started as the EVC, he set up an account at BallotBin.com. The EVC will use this account for all votings and elections. The principle is very simple: you can create a voting on the site and choose how people can vote. For example: can they vote for only one candidate, or can they choose a top 3? Adding or removing members from the list to whom the ballot should be sent is also very easy, so no worries there. Besides setting up a voting, the EVC also must decide the period in which people can vote. When all this is done and the ballots have been sent, the EVC basically has to wait until the voting period is over, although it is advisable to send a reminder to people who haven't voted yet at some point. When the voting period is over, the website basically gives you the results, showing you how many people voted for which candidate (in for example the elections for a new GC).

So that is in short how it works being the EVC. If anybody needs anymore information, just let me know. Also, I'd be happy to help the new EVC settle in and help him or her out with the first (couple of) elections.

As Interim EVC, I will formally open the nominations period; this will last until 19 June 2014 at 1700 GMT.

So far, Zuzutoo is the only accepted candidate.

I will check if Ash accepts his nomination and if he doesn't, we'll go to voting.

If we have a quorum of active members I don't see a reason to drag an uncontested election out three weeks. Let's move on to the Main Event. Certainly those interested in running for GC could get started making shameless promises and kissing interns (I meant babies).
