Topic: Guild Wars 2

A continuation of this thread, I remember Jason A. saying they really liked Mesmer, and I was a huge fan of it too. They just announced the FINAL profession which is Mesmer! Yay!

Re: Guild Wars 2

Nick, as this is a continuation of an old thread, do you want to merge these?

Re: Guild Wars 2

That would be a good idea, but the old one needs to be re-opened.

I liked the Ritualist, nothing like merging my love of Star Wars and video gaming on another level. XD

Re: Guild Wars 2

Mesmers were very cool, my first char was a R/Me (for those who can't remember or don't know, it's Primary/Secondary, so Mesmer was his secondary) and eventually tried a full Mesmer and gosh are their abilities cool. I always thought of it as just f***ing with people. I mean really, *BOOM* your health is degrading, you lose those lovely Monk enchantments, oh and...that elite skill you have? Yeah, I just replaced it with a Mesmer skill that doesn't really help you for 20 seconds.  big_smile

Mesmers were cool. Ritualists too. I have to say that mixing Ranger and Ritualist is one of the coolest things ever, because all of those summon abilities and the skills that effected summons stacked on each other. You could drop Ranger summons next to Ritualist summons, boost them all with Ritualist skills and now you have uber defense with an extra handful of things to fight for you. R/Rt was my favorite DPS build. Used to use stack Splinter Weapon (Ritualist) on Barrage (Ranger). So I'd rain down a ton of arrows on a group (Barrage's effect) and each arrow hit 4 targets (Splinter Weapon's effect). Yeah...those were the days. The downside was that Splinter Weapon would immediately end after Barrage, so I'd have to rebuff it and then barrage again so you couldn't do it too often but it was frequent enough that the combo was worth having in the skill bar.

But it must be said...my favorite class...was monk. The godly (no pun intended) energy regeneration they had, the awesome smite skills they got, the buffs, the cool healing skills...I loved it all. And now the monk is gone from GW2.  sad  Oh well, I'm looking forward to playing an Asura Engineer. I and a friend have already worked out our PvP strategy, though I'm still insisting he consider playing a Necromancer. Because an army of undead backed by automated turret machine guns is just awesome.  lol

Re: Guild Wars 2

I got the complete guild wars a few years ago, but never really got round to it. One of my friends is really hyped for GW2, but tbh I've been far more distracted by TOR...

Re: Guild Wars 2

Hmm, I don't know the Mesmer would fit into any of those categories. sad

I did like the necromancer though. Back when I was playtesting 4th ed. D&D I created a class similar to the GW necro (with undead minions that did the fighting). Was tons of fun!

Darn you Robert, now I want to dust off my copy of GW and play some more. But I still have ME2 waiting to be played!  mad

I have GW, never *really* played it. Too many other awesome things to play big_smile

Re: Guild Wars 2

I agree with you Robert. I don't care if they rename the class, change the abilities, or mix up the fighting/spell casting styles to be an Arcane Trickster type. Just as long as the visual style and flavor of the class remains the same.

I also agree that the Mesmer was their most unique class. No other MMORPG has anything like it, and was what drew me to GW in the first place. It would be a shame if they didn't bring it back for GW2.

Re: Guild Wars 2

They were awesome outfits. I played a warrior monk called Aescleal and had my own guild (of about 10 members, admittedly!) called the Knights Errant Order. One of the best character types strategically, I felt, were Necromancers, but I made it a rule of KEO that you could neither play a necro or join a party with one in it! :-)

Re: Guild Wars 2

Hah, what an excellent idea Ash! Makes it feel more like an order than just an everyday guild!

Re: Guild Wars 2

I'm going to propose an idea. We should create a guild in Guild Wars 2 for Phoenix Roleplaying - a special invitation to Phoenix Members should be extended!

Re: Guild Wars 2

That sounds awesome. I think we could have a link in our social networking list. We might consider clans or the like in other things as well, although I appreciate people are probably already members of clans/guilds in the games and communities that already exist, so we might have to restrict this to new releases.
